The Kernel CSFV Antibody ELISA is a blocking ELISA that specifically detects antibodies against the A domain of the E2 protein of CSFV. This domain is more specific for CSFV than the B, C, and D domain of the E2 protein. An important advantage of the test is that it does not cross-react with related viruses such as Bovine Viral Diarrhoea virus (BVDV) and Border Disease virus (BDV). The test detects antibodies against high-, moderate-, and low-virulent CSFV strains early after infection. Detection of antibodies elicited by low-virulent CSFV strains is of paramount importance to trace sub clinical CSFV infections.
